How does app blocking work?
▼
LearnScreen uses Apple's official Screen Time API to block apps. When you open a blocked app, iOS shows a shield screen with vocabulary flashcards. Review the words and the app unlocks automatically. It works system-wide, even in the background.
Why do I need to grant Screen Time permission?
▼
Screen Time permission is required by Apple for any app blocking functionality. Without it, the app cannot show flashcards on blocked apps. Your data stays private and on your device — we never see which apps you block.
How do I add my own words?
▼
Go to the Words tab and tap "Add Custom Word". Enter the word, its transcription (pronunciation), and translation. Custom words appear in your flashcard review sessions alongside words from the built-in directories.
How does spaced repetition work?
▼
LearnScreen uses the Leitner system. Words you know well are shown less frequently, while words you're still learning appear more often. After reviewing a word 7 times correctly, it's marked as "learned" and rotated out to make room for new vocabulary.
How do I restore my purchase?
▼
Go to Settings and tap "Restore Purchases". Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase. If the restore doesn't work, try restarting the app and trying again.
The blocking stopped working. What should I do?
▼
Try these steps: 1) Make sure your block group is enabled in Settings, 2) Open LearnScreen — this refreshes the shields automatically, 3) Go to iPhone Settings → Screen Time and verify LearnScreen has permission. If issues persist, contact us at grunin.rg@gmail.com.
We typically respond within 24-48 hours. Please include your iOS version and a description of the issue.
